There’s nothing a martini can’t fix

Congressional Boob Watch

December 5th, 2005 · 4 Comments

From Reason’s Hit and Run, is the tale of our Elected Political Heros at work. We don’t have time to deal with the nomination of Judge Alito, for example, but we can hold hearings on the freakin’ BCS?

Here’s the money quote (literally):

“College football is not just an exhilarating sport, but a billion-dollar business that Congress cannot ignore,” said committee Chairman Joe Barton, a Texas Republican.

Congress is a house of whores and if you had any doubt, that sentence just explained it. I imagine Boarton was drooling at the mouth while he spoke the sentence. Every other member of the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee was probably seeing green, too.

I will not vote for a single incumbent in the 2006 elections. You hear that, Mehlman? You have lost my votes as far as Congress is concerned. How will you win me back? That’s another post.

Mehlman sent me a moneygram, I mailed it back in his own envelope with CUT THE BUDGET in HUGE letters.

As to Barton’s comments….. man, between this and his defense of the Wright Ammendment, I’m regretting him having an (R) next to his name and being an Aggie (like myself).

Pols just can’t avoid the media glare of big time sports. The Texas Lege engaged in similar chicanery last session, but it was largely seen as a joke. Barton appears to be serious.

    Hi all,

I’m getting beaten up all over the liberal blogs, and could use some help with certain anti-American comments I receive. I’m not sure if this is the right place, but I was hoping to find a nice conservative sanctuary to hang out now and then. I live in Athens, Greece, and although I’ve been a Democrat for years, all these nasty anti-Bush comments I hear from Greeks and Greece, I’m thinking I want to change to Republican. Can you all give me a warm welcome (hug), tell me it’s going to be alright, and that our country won’t self-implode. Living in Greece, all I hear is negativity from the locals on our government.!!!
