How to get fired for saving a life

June 19th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Luckily you can choose your bosses in this world and Colin Bruley, of Jacksonville, Florida, will soon be doing just that thanks to the herd mindset of his former employers. Bruley lived in an apartment complex where he also worked as a leasing agent. He heard a woman scream that she’d been shot. Bruley grabbed his Remington 870 shotgun and found the woman with her right leg bleeding. He treated the wound, earning praise from the victim’s sister and other neighbors. He also got fired from his job for violating policies about having a weapon at the workplace.

What happens when the workplace is also the residence?

The police report said the woman was the victim of a domestic quarrel with her boyfriend. What if Bruley ran to her aid unarmed and became the second victim that night? How would the apartment management react to that?

Bruley leaves the possibility open for legal action and the people who fired him should be nervous. They also need to apologize and commend him for acting quickly and selflessly to assist a person in need. I am not holding my breath.

i have to do a persuassive essay on:
“shoud people be required by law to step forward and help others in emergency situations?”
and this article came up and really made me wonder.
