The earthquake happened at 8:50 a.m. West Asia Standard Time (Pakistan Standard Time) and 9:20 a.m. (India Standard Time) (03:50 UTC), on October 8, 2005.
Oct. 17. The death toll appears to be rising in Pakistan. Abdul Khaliq Wasi, spokesman for the Pakistan Kashmir government says some 40,000 people died in that region alone. The North West Frontier Province also appears to have had some 13,000 casualties.
Oct. 14. Death toll figures revised again. Pakistan's number of an estimated 19,000 has gone up to over 25,000.
Oct. 13. The death toll has been revised downward, which is really good. Estimates are 20,440 dead, 46,897 wounded. (per wikipedia) 19,136 of those are in Pakistan. Of those, 11,000 or so were killed in Muzaffarabad. I've updated the count in the Pakistan info-block and the Muzaffarabad block. Four dead in Afghanistan, and 1300 in India.
3:23 p.m., CST. Oct. 12. There was a 5.4 aftershock in Pakistan felt in Lahore, Islamabad and other northeastern Pakistani areas.
9:00 p.m., CST. Oct. 11. As of now, the death toll is over 40,000. Per Wikipedia's page, there are over 65,000 wounded.
7:38 p.m., CST. Oct. 11.A 5.0 quake occurred 375 miles southwest of Peshawar, Pakistan.
