… is a mindset that can’t be reasoned with, reached out to, examined with an open mind or hugged. The transcript of the Dutch trial of Theo van Gogh’s murderer shows us the dark medievialty that is Islamism. When addressing the mother of Van Gogh, the murderer had this to say:
He argued that he did not killl her son, “but I have chopped off his head according to the law that orders me to do so to everyone who offends Allah. I do not not feel your pain as I do not know what it is to suffer the loss of a child”
Andrew Sullivan, not exactly a neo-con, says this:
Can anyone seriously believe that not invading Iraq would have changed the mindset of this fanatic? Or leaving Afghanistan alone? What we’re learning, especially from the home-grown bombings in London, is that our fundamental enemy is a medievalist theological fascism, buried in the recesses of a legitimate religious faith. It would be nice if we could talk these people out of it, or hand them concessions to buy them off, or hug them till they saw the joys of the New Age. Until then, we have to bring them to justice - on the battlefield or court-room. And the people who are most able to bring them to justice are Western Muslims; and the democratically-inclined Muslims in Iraq.
The silence from American mosques is deafening.
(Peaktalk has much more on Van Gogh’s murder.)

Dear Swankster,
I like the Churchill pic in your banner.
Interestingly, Mr. Churchill was right on the money regarding radical Islam. Mr. Churchill had a clear understanding of radical Islam long before most in the West. Speaking in the House of Commons way back in 1921, Churchill warned,
“A large number of Bin Saud’s followers belong to the Wahabi sect, a form of Mohammedanism…. The Wahabis profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practise themselves they rigorously enforce on others. They hold it as an article of duty, as well as of faith, to kill all who do not share their opinions and to make slaves of their wives and children.” House of Commons Address, June 12, 1921
Mr. Churchill astutely observes the fatalism and present danger of radical Islam. The enemy is not attacking because of poverty or Western oppression or any other fashionable “root cause”. The worldview of Islamic radicals requires rigorous adherence to their graceless absolute and militaristic subjugation of all who oppose them. Islamofascists attack because of who they are. We need to keep reminding people of this fact.
